It’s happened to the best of us. When entertaining, it’s easy to remember all the important things–preparing appetizers, making the dessert, setting out enough napkins and tableware–but often times we forget all about how to display these things! Luckily, there are several items around the house that you can easily re-purpose as beautiful serveware. Better yet, no one will ever know!
China cups and dessert plates are traditional elements on the dinner table. However, in a pinch, they can serve up treats in an elevated way. Improvise a cake stand by simply placing a dessert plate atop a teacup.
Mix patterns for an interesting look. Use pretty floral patterns for a Spring tea party, or sunny, cheerful colors for a daytime event.
For a more casual table setting, try using tumblers and vases as bases for pretty everyday dinner plates. Consider filling the vessels with pie weights, uncooked rice or garden stones for a little extra stability and an added decorative touch.
