Adjusting to a smaller space at home means more thoughtful decisions about what to include and discipline about what to leave out. But this doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or personality. Here are tips from Vintage Home shopkeeper, Laura Bowman, about the tough lessons on paring down.
Less is more
Clutter can take away from your style and hide things that are special to you. Pick out favorites and showcase them.
Exploit your textiles
Fabric can make a statement with its color and pattern. I like to have my sofa arranged with all my pillows just so. I do have a lot of soft touches in the form of throws and fabrics.
You can always put things away and rotate items periodically. This way you see and use your favorite things but still have room to live with them.
Form and function
Find items that show your personality and are still useful. Retro kitchen tins look great and provide storage space and organization.
